WHAT IS THE ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM: The goal of the program is to help deserving children who otherwise would not have a Christmas have a great holiday season. We are also creating a positive image of police officer's in the eyes of children. The toys are delivered to the children by the police in uniform as Santa's helpers. In 13 years, over 300 families and 2,500 children have had a great holiday season because of this program.
WHO THE PROGRAM HELPS: Children are identified through the schools, churches, community organizations and police officers. Examples of families and children we have helped include kids that were sleeping on the floor (they got bunk beds), terminally ill children, terminally ill parents, a family who lost everything in a fire right before the holidays, a family whose father died one week before Christmas, children who were falling behind in school because of bad eyesight and no money for glasses, a mom who was robbed of her paycheck right before Christmas, children whose parents have lost their job, children in the hospital, children of military parents and children of disabled veterans.
One idea has Michigan and Michigan State in a West Division, another suggests annually rotating divisions. With so many options, what do you think would be the best way to split the Big Ten?
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg believes U-M has the talent to win 10 games, but there are enough question marks where the team could implode and suffer just as many defeats.
